Glossary
Juicer is a device used to extract juice from vegetables, fruits and wheatgrass. Juicers come in three varieties namely centrifugal juicers, masticating juicers and triturating juicers. Each has specific mechanism to do the process. Juicing helps to look after one’s own overall health and wellness. All the vegetables and fruits used have certain amount of vitamins, proteins and all the essential ingredients for health.
ACID:
This indicates the acid present in the citrus fruits.
ADDBACK:
Addback is the high Brix concentrated juice to lower the sugar to acid ratio and also to improve the color of the juice.
BLADE:
Blade is a tool or weapon which has sharp and cutting edges to perform chopping, grinding, blending etc.
BREVILLE:
Breville is a leading manufacturer in the field of home appliances. Their design and innovation have underpinned their success. Their products are most user-friendly on the markets since they have the highest quality.
BRIX:
Brix refers to the percent of weight of soluble solids in a solution which is measured at sea level at 20 degree Celsius.
CENTRIFUGAL:
Centrifugal is a process that chops and grinds the fruits and vegetables into tiny particles. They distribute mixture of juice and microscopic particles resulting in a very high yield of drinkable juice. The contents are grinded against a shredder at very high speed. Still this does not produce the good quality of living juice. This juicer causes oxidation which is generally considered as a drawback.
CITRUS JUICER:
This juicer is mainly designed to extract juice from citrus fruits. They avoid grinding process which is often used in other juicers.
CLEANSING:
Primary advantage of juicing is the cleansing of cells in the body. When proper nutrients are provided the new cells formed will be stronger and healthier.
COLD-PRESS JUICER:
Cold-press juicer requires only a low amount of RPM between 70 RPMs and 200 RPMs. Because of this the juice does not get heated up and that the juice does not get heated up and hence it causes no oxidation.
ENZYMES:
Any of several complex proteins that are produced by cells and act as catalysts in specific biochemical reactions.
FILTERING:
Filtering is the process of removing the shredded flesh parts of fruits and vegetables so that pure juice is obtained.
FUNNEL:
A funnel is conically shaped utensil which has a narrow tube at the small end. This allows channeling the flow of substances into a container with a small mouth.
GREEN JUICE:
This refers to juice being made from variety of green vegetables. They cleanse the body and have a rejuvenating effect.
HORSE POWER:
Physical term used to measure the motor’s power. One horse power equals 746 watts.
HYDRAULIC PRESS:
Hydraulic press is one in which a force applied by a piston to a small area is transmitted through water to another piston having a large area.
JUICING:
It specifies the separation of the juice and the pulp from the produce being juiced. The juicing process will break down the cells of the produce from which the liquid or juice is released and collected in one container and the pulp is discarded in to a separate receptacle.
KENWOOD:
Kenwood is the world’s excellent company in producing most profound and stylish products. The juicers from this company are really flummoxing the customers since they consider the quality as their precious possession. With this life in kitchen is easier.
L’EQUIP:
This diversified manufacturer is dedicated to health and well-being. They design products which will have a unique look and feel to them. L’equip assures that the products will have advantage over the other products in terms of function, health and look.
LIVING JUICE:
This refers to a juice that is extracted from raw fruits and vegetables that has never been heated up to 50 degrees Celsius. Living juice has longer life and holds more amount of vitamins and nutrients than normal juice.
MASTICATION:
This process intimates the natural process used to chew food. An auger is used to chew the food ingredients to extract high quality living juice. Difference in juice quality is readily visible since juices are much darker and are more flavorful.
OMEGA:
Omega is an ingenious company that focuses on producing epochal products. Their versatility raises their product features. It offers all styles of juicing equipments.
OXIDATION:
Oxidation is the process of combining oxygen with the substances. In juicer this process occurs when the juice is exposed to open air for long periods of time. Vital nutrients and vitamins can escape during this process. If the amount of oxidation is more, then the shelf-life of the juice will become shorter.
PASTEURIZATION:
Pasteurization is the process partial sterilization of foods which destroys harmful microorganisms done at a specific temperature without causing any major changes in the functioning of the food.
PHILIPS:
Philips as being elite manufacturers integrates technologies and design into people-centric solutions. Their mission of improving the quality of people’s lives through meaningful innovations is clearly revealed with their gauntleting products.
PULP:
Pulp is nothing but the soft moist part of a fruit.
PYTOCHEMICALS:
Pytochemical is a chemical substance obtained from plants that is biologically active but not nutritive.
RPM:
RPM stands for Revolutions per minute. It is a measurement used to describe how quickly the juicer spins.
SINGLE AUGER:
Here single auger is used in the mastication process for extracting living juice. This has a lower extraction rate than twin auger. But there will be no difference in the quality of the juice.
STEAM JUICER:
This juicer uses the steam from heated water to extract juice. The steam diffusing through fruit skin breaks down the fibers and takes out the rich juice from the fruit.
TRITURATING JUICERS:
Here the contents are crushed and grinded to produce juice. These devices do not cause oxidation and also the cellular structure of the contents is not disturbed.
TWIN AUGER:
This uses two gears for extracting juice via mastication process. They produce higher yield of juice and are more efficient than single gear. Also the quality will be the same irrespective of the augers used.
WATTS:
A unit used for the measurement of energy power.
